Chairperson

Function:

  • To assure that the board of directors fulfills its responsibilities for the governance of the organization.

  • Work with staff to achieve the mission of the organization.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Have general active management of the business and governance of the organization.

  • Oversee the organization’s philosophy and review management’s performance in achieving its mission, annual and long-range goals.

  • Prepare a review of the executive director and recommend salary for consideration by the appropriate committee.

  • Approve appropriate compensation and benefits for staff.

  • Approve performance reviews of the executive director and establish his/her compensation based on recommendations of the personnel committee and the chair of the board. 

  • Convene and preside over regularly scheduled board meetings or arrange for other members of the executive committee to do so.

  • Recruit and retain board members. 

  • Maintain continued interaction with the executive director.

  • See that orders and resolutions of the board are carried out.

  • Sign and deliver legal documents in the name of the organization.

  • Be available as a spokesperson when necessary.

  • Perform other duties as prescribed by the board.

Co-Chairperson

Function:

  • Chair committees on special subjects as designated by the board.

  • Assist the chairperson to assure that the board of directors fulfills its responsibilities for the governance of the organization.

  • Work with staff to achieve the mission of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Create committees for special subjects/assignments as designated by the board.

  • Recruiting board and other talent for voluntary assignments.

  • Maintain records of and, when necessary, certify proceedings of the board and members.

  • Perform other duties as prescribed by the board.

Treasurer

Function:

  • To ensure that the board of directors fulfills its fiduciary responsibilities for the organization.

  • Work with staff to achieve the financial goals of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Keep accurate financial records for the organization.

  • Assure the accurate completion and timely submission of IRS Form 990, and, if applicable, oversee the organization’s annual independent audit.

  • Deposit and endorse money, drafts, and checks in the name of the organization.

  • Report at each board meeting on the finances of the organization.

  • Review compliance with relevant laws affecting the organization.

  • Serve as a chairperson on the finance committee.

  • Assist in preparation of an annual budget.

  • Aid with development of fundraising plans.

  • Annually review the environment, and approve strategic operating and fundraising plans and annual budget.

  • Perform other duties as prescribed by the board.

Treasurer

Secretary

Function:

  • Maintain records of all board actions and assuring that corporate records are maintained.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the taking of minutes at all board meetings.

  • Sending out meeting announcements. 

  • Distributing copies of meeting minutes and the agenda to each board member.  

  • Perform other duties as prescribed by the board.

Fundraising/Events Lead

  • Develop contacts. 

  • Collaborates with committee members.

  • Creates and manages fundraising plans.

  • Holds monthly planning meetings.

  • Report at each board meeting on the fundraising plans of the organization.

Fundraising/Events Committee Members

  • Develop contacts.

  • Completes assigned projects/tasks.

Social Media & Website Management

  • Develop social media accounts.

  • Manages and monitors effectiveness of accounts.

  • Highlights volunteer participation/shares stories on social.

  • Report at each board meeting on the effectiveness of each social media platform of the organization.

  • Develop & maintain website.

Marketing

  • Develop and design material to promote the organization and events.

  • Order and manage stock.

  • Create and present engaging and effective marketing presentations, as necessary.

Grant Management

  • Research grant opportunities.

  • Writing and submission of grants. 

  • Develop contacts and manage relationships with donors and foundations.

  • Report at each board meeting on the grants progress and plans of the organization.

Volunteer Coordinator

  • Develops and manages volunteer procedures and policy.

  • Interviews, recruits, on boards and maintains relationships with volunteers.

  • Oversee volunteer schedules/calendar on website.

Members at Large

  • Assist with miscellaneous duties, as needed.
